The next wave of consumers is coming–actually they are already here. Is your business ready?
Gen Zers (born 1995-2015) are the newest wave of consumers to small businesses. According to Kasana.com this generation, also known as the iGeneration or post-millennials, is the first to grow up on technology as we know it today. The average Gen Zer received their first phone at age 10 and many grew up playing on mobile phones or tablets.

Gen Z consumers are more fiscally conservative than millennials having witnessed the financial struggles of their Gen X parents (born 1965-1979). They use debit cards as their main payment method. They also look for aesthetically pleasing products when they shop.

#5 Rewards Programs
About 65 percent see the value in coupons and rewards programs.
It is important to get customers in the door of your business, but how do you get them to keep coming back? Of course, your superior products and amazing service, but sometimes customers need more than that – but what?
#6 Video Marketing
Also consider utilizing video marketing–especially for mobile devices as this is a highly effective way to reach Gen Z. Remember how we said Gen Zers have about an 8 second attention span? Think about Instagram vs. Facebook. You can't upload a video longer than :30 seconds on Instagram but Facebook prefers your videos to be 3 mins. or longer. When you are creating your Mini-Marketing Videos, think about the first 8 seconds. If you were a Gen Z consumer, would you still be looking at the video you are creating after 8 seconds?

#7 Social Media
The majority of Gen Z is on Instagram, so while all media platforms are important to capture a wide demographic, having a presence on Instagram will increase a small business’s chance of reaching this growing consumer base. Instagram can be difficult for all generations to learn if you aren't 1) computer savvy and 2) "into" social media. Instagram is more complex to use both on the platform side of things and for understanding how a business uses it for marketing.
